And then we came home...

We took the scenic route home and man, was it pretty. Lots of snow as we were leaving Flagstaff...close to Sedona it started to thin out and then soon there was hardly any snow and then we went through this crazy little town that was all uphill! and then soon we were back down at the desert's elevation... or lack thereof. Here are some of my nature shots of the drive back...

Sledding, snow and fun in Flagstaff, Az.

29 December 2009
This was the first day of our snow and sled adventures in Flagstaff, Az. We were so bummed to discover that the huge hill we'd sledded down the year previous was no longer accessible but we found another place nearby that was just as fun. The boys were both in heaven. Last year Aiden really had a better time as Finn wasn't quite old enough to really enjoy it (plus he was almost immobile in his snowsuit!). This year though they both loved it! Mom and Dad did alot of trekking down the hill to fetch after Finn's sleds as he wasn't that great about bringing them back up every time! Otherwise we all had a really good time!

My really bad attempt at photoshopping this picture! Oh well-Finn's expression is priceless!

This is SO fun!!!

They did this quite a bit too...

We could hardly get this child off the hill once we came to sled!

We went sledding two days in a row and the second was SUPER cold and snowy!

This was fun!

I love this picture of Collin!

...and of course, the requisite snowman...mums the word on this one...not sure what happened to his mouth!

We had a really good time here in Flagstaff. However, the boys discovered how much they like the taste of snow...yeah... so I kept turning around and seeing things like this...

...and this.
So, I figured I should try it too...uh, yeah, not so much!

Seriously though, it got ridiculous! At several points we had to start convincing Finn to go down the hills on the sled-he was so immersed in eating the snow that he could've cared less! Aiden didn't like it quite as much but he took in his share too. And mostly it would've been fine except when they started to try and lick it off the bumper!!!! I know! Groooosssssssss!!

The Polar Express train ride

Haha! I promise this was intended to be a fun event! From the looks on their faces though you would think that we were putting them on the train alone heading to no-man's-land! Just getting on to the train for the Polar Express ride!

They served us hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookies...

The train depot before we pull away...

Here's Santa!! Once we arrived at the 'North Pole' the train stopped so Santa could come aboard. We were at the the end of the first car he came on so the boys were the first to receive the coveted silver sleigh bell!

Pulling away feom the North Pole...

As you can see by Finn's eyes, the effects of our long fun filled day are beginning to show on him...

...and Aiden! :)

The train car we were in was from 1928...very nicely kept. I thought this was a cool photo.

Yes, it was bitterly cold in Flagstaff!!
Brrrrrrrr!

...again Finn's eyes! LOL!
